What is a Wrecker Operator Lien Removal

Wrecker Operator Lien Removal

wrecker operator

A wrecker operator or towing company may claim a special type of Florida tow lien called a wrecker operator lien. It is for recovery, towing, and storage of an abandoned vehicle, vessel or mobile home for which a Certificate of Destruction has been issued. Indeed, the vehicle must have originally been authorized to be towed from public property by law enforcement.

Ask us about how we can place a lien on the registered owner’s records. So that you can claim the past due balance owed by the owner on your recovery,  towing and storage charges.  When they attempt to renew their registration, the DMV will receive a prompt. A prompt that your lien has to be satisfied before registration can proceed. Furthermore, once successfully processed, this lien is active and valid for 5 years until paid off.

Section 713.78(13)(b), Florida Statutes, states that the amount of the wrecker operator’s lien for which the department will prevent issuance of a license plate or re-validation sticker may not exceed the amount of the charges for recovery, towing, and storage of the vehicle or vessel for 7 days.
